Leana Zona, M.Ed.

Academic Advisor and Communications Specialist
Hickory Hall 32B *Temporary Office Location for 2017-2018

I am proud to currently serve as an Academic Advisor and Communications Specialist for the OASES team. With roughly 5,000 adult and nontraditional students on campus, our programs are both unique and vital to aiding these students' academic success. OASES offers educational and social programs for this specific population, but goes above in beyond as a resource for faculty and staff as well. Adult student needs and expectations are vastly different than traditional students on campus, and that's why it's so vital to work as a community to recruit and retain these students. I am very excited about this role and being a part of this unique demographic of higher education!

Leana is an alumna of UNC Charlotte, having received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 2012. She most recently received her Master’s degree in Student Development in Higher Education at the University of Maine - Orono in May of 2015. In her prior roles in higher education, she has worked as an academic advisor, campus activities board advisor, and event and marketing coordinator.

Fun Fact:

Leana enjoys spending time with family and friends, baking, traveling, and creating work for her Etsy business.
