The Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society is devoted to the advancement of scholarship and to the recognition of nontraditional students continuing their higher education. Alpha Sigma Lambda is the oldest and largest chapter-based honor society for full and part-time adult students. Each year the Alpha Sigma Lambda National Organization awards several scholarships to students. The number of scholarships and the amount vary year to year based upon donations, with awards typically granted of $2500.

The Gamma Rho Chapter Councilor sends correspondence with details and the application to ASL members during the spring semester, with completed application packets generally due by the end of April. The ASL Scholarship Committee reviews applications and selects two candidate applications from the UNC Charlotte Gamma Rho Chapter to submit to the national organization. The Chapter Councilor must forward application packets to the home office of the national organization. Students can not forward their own packets.
As a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Gamma Rho Chapter, students are also elgible to apply for the chapter scholarship, awarded to one recipient each academic year.
