Resources for Faculty and Staff

how we serve STUDENTS

The Office of Adult Students and Evening Services (OASES) is committed to supporting and enhancing the educational experiences of the adult learner. Adult students make up 18% of our undergraduate population on campus, and there is no doubt they are an important part of our diverse community.

Who are Adult Students? Adult Students at UNC Charlotte are identified as 24 years of age and above. Nationally, adult students have a diverse background that renders their needs as different than the traditional student population. Many work full time, have families or dependents, are paying for their educational journey themselves, and have other responsibilities to consider when choosing to further their education.

HOW WE SERVE faculty and staff

Adult students face unique challenges when returning as they often juggle family responsibilities, employment, self-financing their return, changing careers, and more. In OASES, we appreciate the wealth of information they bring to the classroom and as faculty and staff, we hope you do too. Learn about our services and resources for faculty and staff to support awareness and increase retention of these unique students. We have engaged in consulting, presentations, and workshops as we are passionate about adult student initiatives.
