small_teacher   COLLEGE TRANSITION COURSE

UCOL 1010-  College Transition for Transfer Students (Writing Intensive Requirement ) 3 credit hour - Designed to assist with the intellectual and social transition to UNC Charlotte for adult students by increasing the involvement of students in the intellectual life of the campus; providing an orientation to resources available to students; and promoting problem solving and improving writing skills.

Units of study include the writing process, academic planning, career planning, and health and reflection. Topics
covered include time management, financial literacy, collegiate writing, and more!

Priority registration for UCOL 1010 is for newly admitted, undeclared adult students (over the age of 24) in the Adult Student Admissions Program. Students who are declared and already taking courses within their major are typically not permitted to take the course, as it really is not designed for these students.

Course Objectives:

  1. To provide an overview of the university’s resources and services.
  2. To develop and practice academic success skills.
  3. To build supportive relationships within the classroom.
  4. To encourage an environment that promotes personal, social, and academic growth
  5. To develop employability skills such as communication skills (Oral and Written), problem-solving, critical thinking, and a positive attitude
